Kneaders Copycat Chicken Salad Sandwiches Recipe (1)

One thing I can’t stand about chicken salad is when it is dry, and our Kneaders copycat chicken salad sandwiches recipe is far from. Between the mix of sour cream and mayo, this rotisserie chicken recipe will be plenty moist!

Kneaders Copycat Chicken Salad Sandwiches Recipe (2)

With our Kneaders copycat recipe, you can make it up ahead of time and build your tasty sandwich when you are ready to eat! I actually prefer it slightly chilled so I love preparing this ahead of time and having it on a busy week night.

Even though this is an easy recipe to make up, it is one of my favorites, especially when you pair it with tasty and fresh bread. Sometimes I even pick up bread from Panera Bread before dinner.

You can make our chicken salad recipe with our Olive Garden fresh garden salad copycat recipe, citrus berry salad, or keep it simple and make up some air fryer frozen french fries. Or if you are super hungry, you can do both a salad and fries. Life is all about balance right. 😉

How To Make Our Kneaders Copycat Chicken Salad Sandwiches Recipe:

Are you ready to make the easiest recipe for lunch or dinner? If so, start by making sure you have your chicken cooked and shredded beforehand.

PRO TIP: Skip making the chicken and grab yourself a rotisserie chicken and just pull the chicken off and shred it with a fork.

Then, in a medium mixing bowl, combine together the white vinegar, salt, pepper, mayonnaise, and sour cream to create the base for the chicken salad.

Now, in a separate bowl, mix together the shredded chicken, chopped celery stalks, and chopped green onion.

After you have the chicken, celery, and green onion all mixed together, pour the mayonnaise mixture over top and mix it until everything is well combined.

Add more salt or pepper depending on your personal preference, and then cover the chicken salad and let it chill in the fridge for a few hours, or even overnight for the best result.

Perfectly Flaky Croissants

You can have a wonderful chicken salad recipe, but what you serve it on can be just the added flavor and texture you need to make this recipe out of this world.

I have always loved serving chicken salad on croissants. Between the tasty buttery, flaky layers, and the creamy chicken salad, it is the perfect combination.

You can make great croissants at home with Sally’s Baking Addiction’s blog on how to make croissants. However, they are pretty time consuming to make. So, if you aren’t looking to do that, I tend to just grab some from my local grocery store’s deli, slice them and load it up with the tasty chicken salad.

I promise you cannot go wrong. Either way you are going to have a wonderfully delicious sandwich.

Notes For The Best Chicken Salad Recipe

  • This recipe is so easy to throw together! You can even make it earlier in the day and keep it in the fridge until you are ready to serve.
  • If you feel like the salad is a little dry, add equal parts mayonnaise and sour cream until it reaches the desired consistency.
  • If you want more crunch, chop up some sliced almonds and add them in!
  • Sliced grapes can add a wonderful flavor addition as well.
  • A diced apple is also super tasty in chicken salad if you want to change it up a little bit.

Nice and easy recepie, it sounds good iaith the chicken and celery! i must be better to use the celery, it's rarely that I remeber their excistence, and that too bad, cause they are quite cute. Have a wonderful Day and thank you for the inspiration

  2. clskip says:

    How is the chicken cooked?

  3. Julia@SouthernColor says:

This looks delicious!! Chicken salad is one of my favorite things for lunch!

  4. emmalee says:

Just a little tip- I used to work at Kneaders, and they also have Water Chestnuts and Dill Weed in the chicken salad. It'll taste good without it, but the extra crunch is my favorite part!

@clskip, Kneaders just boils the chicken, but you could use the grill or the canned chicken. We would boil it so we could cut big chunks.

    Happy cooking! :D

  5. Ysquare Chan says:

How did you prepared the chickens? Did you marinate it beforehand?

  6. Six Sisters says:

    Hi!

I just boiled my chicken breasts in water without marinating them, but you could cook them anyway you would like. Thanks!

I made this yesterday, boiled the chicken, and used plain greek yogurt instead of sour cream. VERY GOOD chicken salad - thanks!!

  11. Aaron and Carrie Collette says:

This was delicious! Thank you for sharing. It is excellent with the dill weed in it. I also added a couple handfuls of almonds and threw them in the food processor for about 30 seconds. I added about a cup of finely shredded carrots as well. Be sure to add the carrots last and don't over stir or else your chicken salad will look a little too orange. :) Amazing!

  12. Emily @ RemarkableHome says:

I like Kneaders but haven't had their chicken salad. I'll have to give it a try but I've never found a recipe I like better than the one I use which contains soy sauce. You can find it on my blog if you'd like to give it a try! It's fantastic!

  13. Leslie Seror says:

I made this the other day and it was delicious! I usually just toss chicken, mayo, chopped onion, salt and pepper...so your recipe was a little something different and it was yummy :) Thank you.

  14. gtarchik says:

I would love to see the recipe on your blog but tried to find it and couldn't.

  15. Nicole Romano says:

  17. Sara says:

I remember years ago Kneaders put grapes in their chicken salad. When did they stop doing this??

  18. Laurel says:

Thanks for the recipe! If I use canned chicken, how many cans would you use?

  19. Six Sisters says:

Maybe 2 or 3 of the 12.5 ounce cans of chunk chicken breast.

  20. Nicole Ingersoll says:

    The dill made a wonderful difference...thanks :)

  21. Tracy says:

Is dill weed just a spice?

  22. Cyd says:

Yes, you find it on the spice aisle.

  23. Jeni says:

For the mayonnaise would you use Hellman's type mayo not Miracle Whip? Silly question!

  24. Cyd says:

Or Best Foods or even store brand works great! Hope this helps!

  25. Leslie Day says:

How much dill weed? Jar or fresh?

  26. Cyd says:

We just used the dill weed from the spice aisle at the grocery store.

  27. Tracey says:

How much dill weed and water chestnuts?

  28. Aly says:

This recipe tastes great when you add craisins in it or put generous amount if cranberry sauce on the sandwich.

  29. Sharon says:

    1. How many cups of chicken would you say is in one recipe? 2. What would be the most economical way to prepare this for 130 adults?Thank you!Sharon

  30. Cyd says:

I would say around 3-4 cups chicken in each recipe. Depending on how big your servings are or the size of your roll/buns will determine how many servings you will get. You should easily be able to get 10 servings. To feed 130 you will need to make multiple batches. You can make it ahead of time. Store in the fridge for a few days, or you can freeze it if you need to make it earlier than that. Here is another one of our chicken salad recipes that serves about the same amount of people. https://www.sixsistersstuff.com/recipe/moms-chicken-salad-sandwiches/Best of luck feeding the masses. :)

  31. Tamie says:

We had this for dinner tonight - so good! I cut the recipe in half and it served three adults with leftover for another sandwich. I toasted the bread with some butter and olive oil in a pan first, which was really good. We served it with some garlic green beans. Thank you, this one is a keeper!

  32. Cyd says:

Hi Tamie. We are so glad you liked our Six Sisters copycat Kneaders Chicken Salad Sandwich recipe. It's always a favorite. We often serve it at Baby showers/Bridal showers. Thanks so much for stopping by!

  33. Sharon says:

    Thank you Cyd!

  34. Tiffanee says:

I don't have mayo could I use miracle whip instead?
