Basic Information on How to Draw a Valentine’s Card
Here is a simple instruction that shows how to draw a Valentine’s card. This is an invariable attribute of the holiday of all lovers, which is traditionally celebrated in many countries in February.
On Valentine’s Day, people give their loved ones gifts, candies, balloons, flowers, toys, and heart-shaped cards. In my example, you see a beautiful greeting card, which depicts a heart-shaped balloon. In addition, you can see a congratulatory inscription there.
This is a very nice gift with which you can express your love, care, and attention. The color of the Valentine’s card is red or pink, these colors symbolize love and devotion. The instructions are very clear and accessible. Each step is visualized and supplemented with a small hint.
But of course, the example shown in my drawing lesson is not the only important one. Using the steps below, you can draw a wide variety of valentines, you just need to change one or another detail.
Below I will first show you the whole process of drawing a card, then we will study the process of drawing a heart in more detail.

Steps on How to Draw a Valentine’s Card

How to Draw a Valentine’s Card
- Draw the outlines of the card.
With the help of several straight lines draw a rectangle. The vertical and horizontal lines of the valentine should be parallel to each other.
- Depict one side of the heart.
Draw a smooth rounded line of the same shape as in the example. Below you will see more detailed instruction for drawing a heart.
- Add the second side of the heart.
On the other side, draw a symmetrical line to make the closed-loop. To check the symmetry of the heart, try looking at it through a mirror.
- Sketch out the bow.
This part should be located exactly under the heart. This part should also be symmetrical. You can draw the left side first, then the right.
- Depict the ends of the ribbon at the bottom.
First of all, draw the bottom part of the heart-ball as in my example. Then using long smooth lines draw the edges of the bow.
- Add the inscription
Draw letters inside the heart. I’m just showing you an example of text that you can replace with any other inscription.
- Write the bottom text.
When you write the text, keep in mind that the lines should be straight and the letters should be approximately the same size.
- Color the Valentine’s card.
At this stage, you will need pink or red. But this is just my example. You can use any other colors and color combinations.

Any complex drawing consists of general details and particulars, and the valentine drawing is no exception.
You already know how to draw the card itself. It’s essentially a series of straight lines. It’s much more difficult to draw the details. To get this right, let’s look at the largest and most important part of this drawing in more detail.
