JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is one of the most popular long-running anime and well-known manga series of all time, as it is able to tell a compelling story that spans generations of different characters related to the Joestar bloodline. In that regard, the entire Joestar family itself is composed of strong characters in both the physical and mystical sense. But there are also other powerful characters throughout the entire JoJo storyline.
From the beginning, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure was never short on comedy, flamboyance, and action because it is full of some of the most unique characters. Of course, some JoJo’s Bizzare Adventure characters are also quite powerful. That said, let’s look at the strongest characters in the entire JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure storyline.
15. Joseph Joestar
Joseph Joestar is the second JoJo in the entire storyline and is the star of the Battle Tendency arc. During his younger years, he was a brash troublemaker that mastered Hamon, which is essentially life energy that is channeled through the person’s attacks. Joseph’s master of Hamon allowed him to defeat incredibly powerful beings like the Pillar Men, who are some of the most powerful characters in the entire JoJo storyline.
Even after Hamon became obsolete, Joseph was able to develop a Stand called Hermit Purple. His Stand isn’t effective in battle, but he is capable of channeling his Hamon through it and using it for strategic purposes. But while he is a great fighter and was easily able to overpower powerful foes through his physical capabilities during his younger years, it was ultimately Joseph’s incredible wit and intelligence that allowed him to become one of the strongest characters in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.
14. Risotto Nero
Risotto Nero is the leader of an assassination group called La Squadra Esecuzioni, as he is a person who is willing to do anything to see his goals succeed. That’s why he is willing to take on any kind of job as an assassin, and he also looks the part of a true assassin because of his creepy look. Of course, the villain’s power and appearance are accompanied by his Stand called Metallica, which was able to give him incredible powers.
Metallica is capable of manipulating iron using magnetism. The Stand itself isn’t entirely powerful, but the fact that Risotto has incredible abilities as an assassin allowed him to learn how to use his Stand in the most effective means possible. That’s why he belongs on this list, even though Metallica isn’t as powerful as the other Stands in JoJo.
13. Johnny Joestar
Jonathan Joestar, who is also called Johnny, is the seventh JoJo in the entire series and is actually the alternate version of the original JoJo named Jonathan. He is the protagonist of the Steel Ball Run storyline, which takes place in an alternate universe. Johnny used to be a racing prodigy but ended up becoming a paraplegic. Still, he joined the Steel Ball Run when he realized that he could use the steel balls to heal his legs.
What makes Johnny so powerful is the fact that he has a Stand called Tusk, which allows him to shoot spinning nails that are essentially bullets. The nails are capable of so much force that they can open the D4C Love Train’s dimensional wall. And there are even moments when the energy from the spinning nails is so great that time itself is stopped.
12. Yoshikage Kira
Yoshikage Kira was the villain of the Diamon Is Unbreakable arc of JoJo, as he is the enemy that Josuke needed to confront. He is a serial killer that lurks in the shadows to target women and steal their hands. And while he isn’t the most powerful opponent in a straight-up fight, his true power lies in the fact that he knows how to use the element of surprise to his advantage.
Kira’s Stand, which is called Killer Bee, allows him to turn anything into a powerful bomb the moment he touches them, and this means that he could also turn living people into weapons. He often uses his Stand for laying traps, and this allows him to catch his opponents by surprise. Still, Killer Bee could also perform close-range attacks that can be quite surprising as well.
11. Vanilla Ice
Vanilla Ice was a rather minor opponent that only appeared during the final part of Stardust Crusaders. However, he proved to be DIO’s most powerful servant as this vampire was able to showcase one of the most powerful Stands in the entire JoJo storyline. And it was through this Stand that he was able to defeat Muhammad Avdol, who was instantly killed the moment Vanilla Ice used his Stand against him.
Called Cream, Vanilla Ice’s Stand allowed him to enter alternate dimensions and attack out of nowhere. This makes this Stand so unpredictable as it can simply appear out of nowhere and teleport anyone to a different dimension. That was what killed Avdol, as the character was dragged into an alternate dimension and was instantly vaporized, with only his hands left in the real world.
10. Josuke Higashikata
Josuke Higashikata is the fourth JoJo and is the star of Diamond Is Unbreakable. He is also the illegitimate son of Joseph, which makes him the younger uncle of Jotaro. However, he is a bit different compared to both Joseph and Jotaro in the sense that he is not the same physical beast as they are. Instead, he is more of a flexible fighter that uses different tricks that Crazy Diamond is capable of.
Crazy Diamond is like Star Platinum in the sense that it is capable of fighting well enough with its melee capabilities. But its true strength lies in the fact that it can instantly heal and repair anything and anyone. This allowed Josuke to heal his allies and even trap his enemies inside things by damaging them and then repairing them after. There are also other clever ways in which Josuke used his Stand, and that means that he is a more flexible character compared to the other offense-oriented names on this list.
9. Wamuu
In the past, there were a group of powerful superhumans called the Pillar Men, who were so powerful that they possessed unbelievable levels of strength. Wammu was one of them and is one of the strongest Pillar Men around. He is one of Kars’s loyal followers and is capable of defeating anyone using his raw strength and control over the wind.
Wammu’s power revolves around his ability to control the wind, and that was what he was able to do against almost anyone he faced because he could simply use winds to shred his opponents to bits. On top of that, like all of the other Pillar Men, he possesses immense physical capabilities. Wammu is also a smart tactician which only made him deadlier in his fight against Joseph Joestar.
8. Jotaro Kujo
Jotaro Kujo is the most iconic character in the entire JoJo series because he has appeared in more episodes than any other character. He was also the one who severed the ties between the Joestar family and DIO when he defeated the vampire during the events of Stardust Crusaders when he teamed up with his grandfather Joseph Joestar on a journey from Japan all the way to Egypt.
The most powerful weapon that Jotaro has in his arsenal is his Stand, which is called Star Platinum. At first, Star Platinum’s power seemed to be physical in nature because it had the ability to punch at rapid speeds and hit opponents with incredible precision. However, as Jotaro fought DIO, he realized that Star Platinum also had the ability to freeze time for a brief duration, although not at the same level as The World’s ability to freeze time. Still, this was more than enough for him to defeat DIO.
7. Esidisi
Esidisi is one of the Pillar Men that worked together with Kars, and that means that he is also incredibly powerful. He is leagues ahead of any normal human being in terms of his power, and he has one of the most powerful abilities among all of the different Pillar Men throughout the entire JoJo storyline.
In battle, Esidisi is capable of using his ability to raise his body temperature up to 500 degrees Celsius and using his blood as a weapon. As such, he could easily melt and burn anything that his blood touches. Esidisi is also capable of manipulating his body structure and altering his brain and nervous system so that he can continue to survive. This is how dangerous this Pillar Man is.
6. Funny Valentine
Funny Valentine has one of the most unique and most powerful Stands in the entire JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure franchise. The Stand’s power relies on the fact that it is capable of actually tampering with the multiverse. Yes, that’s right. This Stand has extra-dimensional capabilities that allow Funny Valentine to become an incredibly powerful character.
Called Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, Funny’s Stand allows it to hop from one dimension to another, as it can be used in a lot of creative ways. Funny often uses the skill to interact with different objects in different dimensions so that he can surprise his opponents. He can even use different dimensions to trap his opponents or even defend himself by teleporting attacks to different dimensions. And when he is badly injured, he can use his other versions in the other dimensions to his advantage by transferring his consciousness and Stand to them.
5. Dio Brando
Dio Brando was the original villain of the JoJo franchise because he was the one who made life a living hell for Jonathan Joestar during the early part of the storyline. He eventually became a vampire by making use of the mask that was, later on, revealed to be the creation of Kars. Using his vampire powers, he was so menacing during the first arc of the storyline.
Eventually, Dio took Jonathan’s body and gained the powers of the Joestar family. As such, he returned in Stardust Crusaders as the main villain and was now called DIO, whose Stand was revealed to be the strongest at that time. DIO possessed The World, which had the ability to stop time for well over eight seconds. Combined with his incredible powers as a vampire, he could easily slaughter his enemies before they could even blink.
4. Enrico Pucci
Enrico Pucci is one of the most notable and most powerful villains in the entire JoJo storyline because he was the only one to ever kill Jotaro Kujo, who we all know is one of the most powerful JoJo characters in existence. And Enrico was able to do so by utilizing the power of his Whitesnake Stand, which has one of the most incredible abilities in the entire storyline.
The Whitesnake Stand is capable of producing digestive acids that can force a person to enter a dream-like state that makes it hard for them to differentiate what’s real and what’s not. This Stand could also extract discs or memories from people and Stands, making it a versatile power because the discs could be used to control the people. However, the Whitesnake further evolved into the C-Moon Stand, which allowed it to control and shift gravity. Finally, the Stand evolves into Made In Heaven, which could control time, and that was what allowed Enrico to defeat Jotaro’s Star Platinum.
3. Diavolo
Diavolo is no doubt an iconic villain that fans loved as much as they loved Giorno because of the fact that he is simply cool and badass. He is the leader of the Passione crime family but ended up running things from behind the shadows because he never loved fighting in person. Nevertheless, when he does need to fight in person, that is when he unleashes King Crimson, a Stand with an incredibly powerful ability that trumps almost any other Stand in JoJo.
King Crimson is a melee fighter that’s capable of defeating anyone in close combat. But it also has the insane ability to manipulate time and dodge all of the attacks that its enemies launched. He could also launch a counterattack during that time, as Diavolo’s Stand erases what happened during that timeline but still retains the effects of his attacks. In that regard, everything that happened in that timeline, except for King Crimson’s attacks, will be erased, as Diavolo has used this Stand. To great effect in a lot of different situations.
2. Giorno Giovanna
Due to the fact that he was the son of DIO when he was in possession of Jonathan Joestar’s body, Giorno Giovanna possesses both the genetics of DIO and the Joestar family. He is the fifth JoJo in the series and is one of the most powerful characters in the entire series. Giorno, thanks to the evolution of his Stand, may even be the strongest JoJo of all time, especially after Gold Experience Requiem was unlocked.
The power of Gold Experience Requiem allowed Giorno to make use of his ability to return everything to zero. In a sense, it’s like doing “undo” on your computer because the Stand allowed him to undo the effects of any attack. On top of that, Gold Experience Requiem’s ability also allowed Giorno to trap his opponents in endless loops after their death. That was what happened when he trapped Diavolo in an endless loop wherein he died over and over again.
1. Kars
Kars is the main antagonist of Battle Tendency and is the leader of the Pillar Men, who are some of the most powerful beings in the entire JoJo universe. Before he attained his Ultimate Lifeform state, Kars was already so powerful that he was at the level of a god. But when he used the Red Stone of Aja to be the most powerful being ever, there was no stopping him at all because he became the embodiment of all life in the entire universe.
Before he became the Ultimate Lifeform, Kars could manipulate light and create blades using this power. He was already nearly unstoppable with this power and his immense physical strength. Nevertheless, he became the embodiment of life itself when he obtained Ultimate Lifeform status, as not even lava could kill him. Joseph Joestar and his friends needed to launch him to space, where he was frozen and drifting endlessly throughout the universe but was still very much alive because he could never die.
